    Yes, "Come on Pilgrim" is the first release, and the rawest. Yes, "Doolittle" is probably considered the best Pixies album to date. "Bossanova" just rocks. Then, we have the final act. "Trompe Le Monde" is a venture into a more produced, more "sci-fi" sound (Frank also took the sci-fi with him for his first 2 solo releases)/5(90).

The Sad Punk Although not as well recieved as earlier pixies Albums, Trompe le Monde delivers the goods in my opinion, perhaps it was just that the pattern had been established at this stage and fans (and maybe even the band) wanted more progression. but one of the good Pixies /5().

    "Trompe Le Monde" is a venture into a more produced, more "sci-fi" sound (Frank also took the sci-fi with him for his first 2 solo releases). It is frankly, for me, the best Pixies, or Frank Black writing ever released. This album is worth the money alone for the track "Letter to Memphis"/5().

    The title might be French for "fool the world," but with Trompe le Monde, the Pixies weren't fooling anyone: this was essentially Black Francis' solo debut. It focuses on Francis' sci-fi fascination and lacks any Kim Deal songs; even her backing vocals are far and few between. Yet the band sounds revitalized on Trompe le Monde, as if it were planned as their last hurrah.

    Trompe Le Monde is an exceptional record, though it is not as raw or intense as Surfer Rosa or Doolittle. If this album was released by another band, it would be hailed as a career-defining album. Alec Eiffel may be the greatest song they've ever written.
